Volunteers hold up the T-shirt quilt to be auctioned at this year’s Possum Fest BBQ & Chili Cook-off.

Bits of PK History Pieced Together on Commemorative T-shirt Quilt

The PK Chamber of Commerce has continued the tradition of gathering PK logo shirts for designing a T-shirt quilt to be auctioned at this year’s Possum Fest BBQ and Chili Cook-off. A collection of shirts in the quilt are from the “Best Little Balloonfest in Texas,” held from 1991-1998. One of the oldest shirts (1972) is a simple design of a lady in a two-piece swimsuit slalom skiing along the cliffs with the logo “Possum Kingdom Texas.” Another shirt from the 80’s had a yellow background with the words “And On The Eighth Day God Created Possum Kingdom.” Othershirts used to complete the quilt include logos of “God Bless PK.

P.K. Lake- Hells Gate, 4th of July at Hell’s Gate. Mardi Gras PK Style,” and several Possum Fest logos from the past. This one-of-a-kind quilt is a much sought-after item that brings many bidders to the annual auction.
