Blaze Trails Possum’s Revenge challenge on the PK Hike & Bike rail was held on Saturday, May, 2023 hosting six different events: 69mi., 52mi., 56mi., 17mi., 8mi., and 4mi. runs. Runners met at Bug Beach for registration. All races began and ended at this site after running loops on the trail. Each loop had about a 1,400 elevation gain with inclines and flat terrains, loose rocks, roots and stumps, loose sand, thorns and cactus.
These were cupless races. Runners must run with a hydration device like a water bottle, vest with bottles, or a bladder or belt pack. Most aid stations were spread 3-6 miles apart offering water, Gatorade, fruits and snacks, salt sticks and more.
The weather was just right for runners with unusually cool temperatures for the middle of May.
Top performers listed by men and women with times for each event can be found on the blaze.com website. Medals and prizes were awarded for best times. All runners received a custom t-shirt for the event.
The races depend on a large number of volunteers who can earn credits for their service for future races.
